Holiday Gifts for Mystery Readers and Writers

If you're a reader of this blog, chances are you know somebody who's going to get you a book you've already read for Christmas. Print the following list, and give it to that person.

typewriter bookends,

There are many, many gifts to be found for people like us.  Tell your friends to try sites like Think Geek, Cafe Press, The Literary Gift Company, or just google "gifts for mystery book lovers".  Many places will ship in time for Christmas until December 20th.

And if they're really running late, tell your friends you'll be happy with a gift card from your local bookstore.

Happy holidays!  Merry Christmas!  Joyeux Noel!  Buon Natale! Feliz Navidad!

  1. Fun stuff! Thanks for sharing. The chocolate gun was new to me, and the "ex" knife set is a kick. Happy Holidays to you as well!

    1. My stepdaughter has one of the knife sets, but the gun was new to me as well. Happy holidays!

    2. My wife would say there is always room for chocolate anything. Now I can get her to point an edible gun at me for reading to much and I can take a bite out of crime. Best of both worlds

  2. Anything chocolate is a winner. Although I think I'd like the knife set, I always try and make my guests feel comfortable. Don't think that would do the trick.

    Enjoy the holidays!

    1. I guess it depends on what type of sense of humor a particular guest has. Merry Christmas!

  3. Thanks for the innovative, imaginative list, Marlyn! Not sure I'd like to live with those shower curtains and bath mat year round, but I'd love the chocolate gun! Happy holidays to you!

    1. I'd be happy to receive anything on the list, Jodie. Even though I don't need a shower curtain (shower has sliding door) or any more knives.

  4. Actually, my favorite is the typewriter bookends! I need more bookends, and they'd definitely last longer than the chocolate gun! :-)

    1. True, but I'll bet they don't taste as good!

  5. Did someone say chocolate? I'm so there. The knife set is pretty awesome, too. Great ideas, Marlyn!

  6. Thanks, Drew. I've seen the knife set "in person", as my stepdaughter has one. And (almost) anything chocolate is a winner for me.

  7. Oh, The Ex kitchen knife set! Now that's a killer gift! :-)

    (pun intended)

  8. My ex-wife was standing in the hallway, holding a chocolate gun. I ran to the kitchen, pulled a knife from The Ex kitchen knife set, ran back and pointed my knife at her. 'Okay bitch, just hand over the chocolate and nobody will get hurt.'
'And what if I don't? You're gonna kill me over some chocolate?' she snarled.
With my free hand I pointed at the bathroom door. 'Go look in there and see what happened to the last person who didn't cooperate.'
She walked into the bathroom. Her scream could probably be heard two blocks away.
Ten minutes later I was sitting on the couch, enjoying my chocolate and coffee while reading one of the many mystery novels from my bookshelf, where they were held in place by two typewriter bookends.

  9. Now you've planted the image of a chocolate revolver in my head, I can't get it out! Happy holidays!
